Art Deco bedside table. 1930s Vintage

A beautiful art deco bedside table, dating back to the 1930s. The rich coloured oak veneer, solid oak frame and gently curved shape creates a warm yet elegant look, with two beautifully shaped Bakelite handles, a curved upstand on the top, and a solid reeded base.  It has one drawer and a spacious base cupboard with one original shelf and two useful extra plywood shelves that are later additions.

Condition:

This bedside table is in good condition for its advanced age, with the expected signs of wear and use.  There’s a piece of veneer missing at the back of one side panel; the curved trim to one side of the front frame has been treated with wire wool and furniture wax to soften and condition some pre-existing damage to the edge. Two of the shelves are not original, as described, there is some staining to the inside of the drawer and marks to the back board. The exterior has been cleaned and oiled to showcase its beautiful grain. Photos have been taken of these areas.
