Still with its makers label of Mostyn of Redhill, they specialised in good quality antique Jacobean designs. Mostly using reproduction high- quality Oak and Ask to produce linenfolds, panelled cabinets, blanket boxes, bookcases and coffers, and featuring decorative carving to outside. This was mainly through the 1980’s.

This piece does look like the original lid has been replaced with a sympathetic oak wooden top, oiled not stained to match the box, but instead a feature with the decorative metal hinges in a Jacobean style.

This Scandinavian inspired, mid-century piece has ample storage for either chest of drawers or dressing table. Its design is minimal but has features that elevate it with carved wooden handles in a slightly darker tone of teak, along with the legs and Mirror frame being in a darker contrasting wood against the teak veneer of the main chest.

The piece can either be a Chest of drawers, removing the up supports on the back for the mirror which leaves a clean finish to the top of the chest, or keep it as the dressing table and the mirror has clean lines and a good tilt to it. Should the mirror be removed and used elsewhere it will need to remain landscape as the base trim is unfinished due to it not being visible on the unit.

Dimensions: Chest H72.5cm – Chest with mirror H122cm – W121cm – D43cm.

Floor Gap H19.5cm – Mirror W103cm – H50cm. Drawers – Small- 1x H9cm/ 2x 13cm – W41cm – D36.5cm – Large W71cm with matching depth and height.

Condition:  This is a vintage piece which does have signs of wear, however the images taken are from after an amateur restore, the top did have multiple water marks so the varnish has been carbide scraped off, sanded and finished with a coat of Osmo top coat and buffed with furniture wax.

I am unsure if drawers have been sourced from two different pieces as a small drawer has a furniture label from Symbol Furniture and a large drawer has a Times Furniture label.

A piece with a softer country home feel but a highly functional storage option come dressing table. This Edwardian style Chest of drawers has 3 suitably spacious drawers for clothing etc with a further two small vanity drawers sitting either side of a tilting mirror.

The piece is in a warm tone honey coloured satin pine, with small, carved details around the mirror, bevelled edges and aged brass handles.

Dimensions: H 150cm with mirror – H83cm Top of Chest – W92cm – D48cm.

Mirror Glass H47cm- W34cm – Drawers/ Vanity – W14.5cm- D13.5cm- H7cm – Chest Drawers W78cm- D37cm- H16cm top / H19cm two base drawers.

Condition: As with age and use there are signs of wear to the satin wood, with scuffs and liquid stains, however these have reduced and softened after being waxed with a fine wire wool and then the surface buffed. The drawers may need some added support in the bases as the wood has shrunk slightly over the years and one stopper is missing on the bottom right drawer so when you push it in it can push 1cm to far so no longer flush when closed.
