Ercol Grand Windsor Extending Dining Table (Model 444) And Six Windsor Chairs

Highly sought-after early model 444 (Blue Label 1960-1965) Ercol extending Grand Windsor dining table with six matching Windsor chairs, including two carvers.

This set features solid elm tabletop and chair seats, with stylish splayed beech legs. The table features a folding extending leaf which conveniently stores under the table. We have several different styles of chair to match this table from the famous Ercol Windsor range. The table is 153cm long when closed, and when extended is 225cm long so it can easily seat 10 people. It is 90cm wide and 71cm high.

Condition:

We’ve undertaken an amateur restoration on the main tabletop. We have not restored the extending leaves; these still have the original Ercol finish, with damage around the dowl insert and a deep dent that hasn’t broken through the varnish.

The table legs and chair legs all show age-related scuffing and wear. One of the chair legs has a chip of wood missing and the chair backs also have wear from regular use. One chair has been mended badly by a previous owner with glue; unfortunately, this means that the spindles sit at the wrong angle and will need correcting.

The tabletop has been sanded and oiled and everything else has been cleaned down with wood restorer.
